Google vs. Apple: The Same, But Different.

    I think the “employees that matter” in Apple's part of the table are rightfully designers. I have just began to watch Objectified by Gary Hustwit (maker of Helvetica) and there is a short interview with one of Apple's Industrial Designers – Jonathan Ive – talking about the design process of Macbook Air's keyboard enclosure. I think even though Apple seems to be “Steve” centered in the above comparison table, according to Dieter Rams (Objectified interview), Apple knows what they are doing in terms of design, which I think even though it seems intuitive and elegant at first, is also very complex, well thought off and simply brilliant from many perspectives, as soon as one really tries to look deeper into the whole process. I also think that Google is just as brilliant, but on a different design level, so I guess “same but different” is a good label to attach in as a comparative term.
